Blondes' media domination ends?

Tuesday, June 07, 2005

It doesn't make much of a difference which country you're in, the number of blondes on the TV and in the media is disproportionate. Yes, we know most of them aren't natural blondes, but it still grates to see simplistic marketing at work. Especially, since it does seem to work and nobody really cares.

Anyway, maybe, just maybe there's going to be an end to all this. Maybe the brunettes, mousey-haired and other alternate coloured scalps are about to have their day. So suggests TV2.hu.

Suggests I say, because it's a pretty thin excuse for an article to show pictures of stars with different hair colours.

Anyway, according to them non-blondes such as Madonna are wilder, more detached in a girlish-kind-of-way, or vampish. They can be chameleons, whether in their choice of hair colour or their get up.

They go further by predicting that:

'you will find, a year from now, this will be the fashion. While currently blondes shine, soon the chestnut-browns will conquer.'

The source for all this, is an uncited American magazine, in which the first 5 women it lists are brunettes.

Conclusive proof I would have thought.

If you want to see the pictures, go to the page and click on the link Galéria - katt a képre!, which means pretty much what you've been told to do.

As anyone in Hungary knows though, the colour that remains strangely dominant here is burgundy, not blonde or chestnut-brown. Perhaps it's declining, but it's still popular and most people visiting notice it. So, shall they by morning inherit the earth?

Perhaps, because according to Ripli Zsuzsi's report on the article "A dark headed woman holds more secrets about herself." Their foot's in the door.
